Ahead of the first match of the ICC T20 World Cup at the newly-build Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York, a full-page advertisement featuring a graphic of the Statue of Liberty with a cricket bat featured in the New York Times newspaper on June 2.

"Cricket Has Arrived". "Come say hi" - a graphic of the Statue of Liberty holding a bat had the cricket fans raving about the concept.

The USA is co-hosting the T20 World Cup along with the West Indies for the first time in history.

The T20 World Cup in the USA comes a year after Major League Cricket, a franchise-based T20 tournament, found success. The first edition of the MLC had IPL flavor as the majority of the team owners were from the Indian Premier League. Mumbai Indians' MI New York won MLC 2023.
